Gout is not exactly the most desirable medical condition that will top anyone’s lists of medical problems to have. (If anyone even keeps such a list, that is) Gout is the chronic inflammation of the joints due to a variety of potential causes. The inflammation is usually painful and pain can be experienced in a very sharp, stinging manner where the pain can last a short period of time or even a long period.

So how does one know when one is dealing with symptoms that may be indicative of gout? Considering that gout revolves around the joints, the most common gout symptom is sharp, sudden pains in the joints. If this is something one is experiencing, then the possibility of having developed gout is a high likelihood, but not a one hundred percent diagnosis. There will usually be other secondary symptoms that might be present.

Another gout symptom one needs to look out for is the swelling of the joints. If the joints are repeatedly swollen, it may be the result of crystal deposits that are the originating cause of gout. Again, while there is guarantee that a person is experiencing this symptom has gout, it is a very strong indication.

Discoloration of the skin is also a gout symptom. If the skin above the joints has started to drastically change color and is taking on a purple shade in and around the area of the joints, then one should definitely seek a doctor and see if gout has developed.

These symptoms are hardly anything that would ever be confused for something pleasant. Any one gout symptom is unnerving. The presence of several gout symptom types can be even downright frightening. The wisest course of action is to seek medical attention and have the condition treated before anything worse begins to develop.
